AU CLAIR DE LUNE – MOON NIGHT – This plate has been designed to be used on a table or as a wall piece. It’s created with soft slabs of clay. There is no mold involved. I like using red clay for its richness and texture. I like to express my love for earth and my strong connection to nature more particularly with this type of clay.
The title relates to a French folk song of the 18th century – une chanson populaire francaise du 18th siècle. It’s called “Au Clair de la Lune” and is a song that I learned at a very young age through my mother Claire who loved to sing it with me. The song goes like this….Au Clair de la lune …mon ami Pierrot, Prete-moi ta plume pour écrire un mot…
